In a cozy little house at the end of a quiet street lives a ferret with cream and brown fur, a dark mask around his bright amber eyes, and a tiny red collar whose brass tag jingles as he walks. His best friend is a small grey tabby kitten with big green eyes and a light blue ribbon bow. Every morning the two play hide-and-seek among the chairs and pillows, and their easy companionship is the heart of the story.
One sunny morning the ferret discovers that his favorite soft, stripy sock is missing. Kitten offers to help him search, and their hunt leads them behind the armchair, under the rug, beneath cushions and behind the bookshelf. Instead of the sock, they turn up a silver spoon, a red button, a shiny key, a marble, a hair clip, glasses, a thimble, a toy car and a pair of scissors. Ferret is thrilled and wants to keep the hoard as a treasure collection, but Kitten gently points out that these things belong to someone who is missing them. Remembering how sad he felt when his own sock disappeared, Ferret begins to understand what honesty asks of him.
The book follows the two friends as they carry each lost object back to its proper place, and the small reward that waits at the end of their errand. Through simple, warm scenes it explores curiosity, friendship and the difference between finding something and owning it. Young children just beginning to read aloud will recognize Ferret's excitement and his struggle, and the story gives families an easy way to talk about returning what is not ours and about how doing the right thing can feel even better than a discovered treasure.

A Passage from the Tale
The Ferret's Missing Sock Çınar BİBER
In a cozy little house at the end of a quiet street lived a ferret with cream and brown fur and a dark mask around his bright amber eyes. He wore a tiny red collar with a round brass tag that jingled when he walked. His best friend was a small grey tabby kitten with big green eyes and a light blue ribbon bow around her neck. Every morning, the two friends played hideand-seek among the chairs and pillows. 1
One sunny morning, Ferret wanted to wear his favorite sock. It was soft and stripy and perfect for sliding across the wooden floor. He looked in his little basket, but the sock was not there. He looked under his blanket, but it was not there either. "Oh no!" he cried, his whiskers twitching. "My sock is missing!" Kitten pattered over on her white paws and said, "Don't worry. We'll find it together." 2
Ferret dashed to the living room, his long body weaving around the furniture. "Let's search everywhere!" he said. Kitten followed more slowly, her tail held high. They looked in the big basket of yarn, but only found balls of wool. They checked under the soft pillows on the couch, but only found crumbs. "Where could it be?" Ferret wondered, his brass tag jingling. "We'll keep looking," said Kitten gently. 3
Behind the armchair, Ferret spotted something shiny. He wiggled his long body into the narrow gap and pulled out a silver spoon. "Look what I found!" he said. Kitten's green eyes went wide. "That's the spoon from the kitchen!" she mewed. Ferret's dark mask crinkled with excitement. "Maybe there are more treasures!" He dove back behind the chair, his fluffy tail swishing. 4
Under the rug, Kitten found a small red button. "This belongs on the blue coat!" she said. Ferret found a shiny key under a cushion. "I wonder what this opens," he said, his amber eyes sparkling. They found a lost marble, a hair clip, and a tiny bell. Each treasure made Ferret more excited. "We're treasure hunters!" he declared. Kitten smiled but said, "These things belong to someone." 5
Ferret found a secret spot behind the bookshelf where all the treasures were piled. "Look at this!" he squealed. "We found a hidden collection!" Kitten looked at the pile of misplaced things. There were glasses, a thimble, a toy car, and a pair of scissors. "Someone must have lost these," she said softly. Ferret was already planning to keep them. "They're ours now!" he said. 6
Kitten sat down and looked at Ferret with her big round eyes. "Ferret," she said gently, "these things are not ours. Someone is missing them." Ferret's tail drooped. He looked at the shiny key and the silver spoon. He thought about how sad he was when his sock went missing. "You're right," he said slowly. "It's not honest to keep what isn't ours." 7
Ferret picked up the silver spoon. "Let's return everything," he said. Kitten's face lit up. They carried the treasures one by one to their proper places. The spoon went back to the kitchen drawer. The button went to the blue coat. The key went to the front door. The glasses went to the table. With each trip, Ferret felt a little lighter and a little happier. 8
As Ferret pushed the toy car back to the playroom, he noticed something soft and stripy under the sofa. "Wait!" he cried. He wiggled under and pulled out his missing sock! "You found it!" cheered Kitten, clapping her white paws. Ferret hugged the sock. "And we found so much more," he said. "We found what's right." 9
Ferret put on his sock and slid across the floor, his brass tag jingling. Kitten laughed and chased him. "That was a good search," she said. Ferret nodded. "Being curious is fun," he said, "but honesty matters most." They sat together by the window, watching the sun set. "I'm glad we did the right thing," said Ferret. Kitten purred and leaned against him. 10
The house felt tidy and happy again. The spoon was in its drawer, the button on its coat, and the key by the door. Ferret looked at his red collar and smiled. "Thank you for reminding me," he said to Kitten. She flicked her tail. "That's what friends do," she said. "And now we know where all the lost things go!" They promised to return anything they found from then on. 11
That evening, Ferret and Kitten sat on the rug with a ball of yarn. Ferret's sock was snug on his foot. "I thought finding treasures was the best part," said Ferret, "but returning them feels even better." Kitten nodded. "And we found your sock," she said. "So it all worked out." Ferret's amber eyes shone. "Because we were honest," he said. 12
Ferret's little brass tag jingled as he curled up next to Kitten. "Tomorrow we can search for more lost things," he said. "And return them," added Kitten. Ferret agreed. "Curiosity is fun," he said, "but honesty is best." Kitten purred, and they fell asleep dreaming of hidden treasures and happy returns. 13
The next morning, Ferret woke up and put on his sock right away. Kitten stretched her white paws. "Ready for a new day?" she asked. Ferret nodded. "Let's be curious and honest," he said. They walked through the house, checking under chairs and behind doors. Everything was in its place. "It feels good," said Ferret. Kitten smiled. "It does," she agreed.
