A Passage from the Tale
The Fox's Secret Painting Çınar BİBER
In the heart of the forest, where tall trees whispered and fireflies danced, lived a young fox named Fenn. He had rustorange fur, a fluffy tail with a white tip, and bright amber eyes. Fenn loved to paint the night sky, the moon, and the stars. But he kept his paintings hidden in a hollow log, because he felt too shy to show them to anyone. 1
Every night, when the forest grew quiet, Fenn put on his small blue beret and his paint-smudged apron. He carried his brushes and paints to a secret spot by the pond. There, under the silver moonlight, he painted the landscapes he loved. The water shimmered, the trees stood still, and Fenn's heart felt happy and free. 2
Fenn never told anyone about his paintings. He was afraid they weren't good enough. So he hid them away and only looked at them when he was alone. But one night, his friend Olive the owl flew silently over the pond. She had soft grey-brown feathers, large golden eyes, and round glasses perched on her beak. She saw Fenn painting and smiled. 3
Olive watched from a branch as Fenn painted a picture of the moon reflected in the pond. His brush moved gently, and the colors glowed. When Fenn packed up and went home, Olive flew down to peek at the painting. Her golden eyes opened wide. 'Oh my,' she hooted softly. 'This is beautiful! Why does Fenn hide such wonderful art?' 4
The next day, Olive found Fenn's secret hollow log. She carefully pulled out the paintings one by one. Each one showed a different night scene: starry skies, moonlit forests, glowing fireflies. Olive was amazed. 'Fenn is so talented,' she thought. 'He shouldn't keep this to himself. I must do something to help him share his gift.' 5
Olive decided to plan a surprise. She would hold an art exhibition under the stars and show Fenn's paintings to all the forest animals. But she needed help. She flew to find Pip the rabbit, who was small and quick, with cream fur and long ears. Pip was curious and energetic, always ready for an adventure. Olive told Pip her idea, and Pip's dark eyes sparkled. 6
'I'll help!' Pip said, twitching his nose. 'I can deliver invitations to everyone!' Olive nodded. 'And we'll need Bramble the bear to help set up. He's strong and kind.' They found Bramble by the berry bushes, wearing his red neckerchief. When he heard about Fenn's secret paintings, he smiled warmly. 'Count me in,' he said. 7
For the next few days, Olive, Pip, and Bramble worked in secret. They chose a clearing in the forest where the trees opened up to the sky. Bramble carried big branches to make easels. Pip hopped from burrow to nest, inviting every animal. 'Come to a surprise art show under the stars!' he whispered. 'But don't tell Fenn!' 8
Olive carefully took Fenn's paintings from the hollow log and hung them on the branches. The paintings glowed in the moonlight. Pip tied little lanterns made of fireflies around the clearing. Bramble arranged soft moss cushions for the animals to sit on. Everything was ready for the big surprise. They just needed Fenn to come. 9
On the night of the exhibition, Olive flew to Fenn's den. 'Fenn, come quickly!' she hooted. 'There's something wonderful in the clearing!' Fenn looked puzzled, but he followed Olive. He wore his blue beret and apron, just in case. As they walked, Fenn wondered what could be so important. He had no idea what his friends had planned. 10
When Fenn stepped into the clearing, he gasped. His paintings were everywhere, glowing in the starlight. All the forest animals were there: rabbits, squirrels, deer, and birds. They turned to look at him and smiled. Pip hopped forward and shouted, 'Surprise! These are Fenn's paintings!' The animals clapped and cheered loudly. 11
Fenn's cheeks turned pink under his fur. He felt shy and happy all at once. 'You... you did this for me?' he asked. Olive landed on his shoulder. 'Your art is beautiful, Fenn. You shouldn't hide it. We wanted everyone to see.' Bramble gave a big, warm smile. 'We're proud of you,' he said. The animals cheered again. 12
Fenn looked at his paintings, then at his friends. He felt a warm glow inside. 'Thank you,' he said softly. 'I was scared to share, but you helped me be brave.' Pip led the cheering. 'Hooray for Fenn!' Everyone clapped. Fenn stood tall, his amber eyes shining. He felt proud of his art for the first time. 13
That night, Fenn stood by his paintings and told the animals about each one. He explained how he painted the moon's reflection and the dancing fireflies. The animals listened closely and asked questions. Fenn's voice grew stronger as he spoke. Sharing his art made him feel happy and connected to his friends. 14
From then on, Fenn painted without hiding. He set up his easel in the clearing and invited his friends to watch. Olive often sat beside him, offering encouragement. Pip brought snacks, and Bramble told stories. Fenn's paintings brought the forest animals together, and he learned that sharing his gift made it even more special. 15
And so, under the starry sky, Fenn the fox discovered that creative interests deserve encouragement. With a kind friend like Olive and the support of all the forest animals, he found the courage to shine. His paintings now hung proudly for everyone to see, and Fenn's heart was full of joy and gratitude.
