A Passage from the Tale
The Mouse's Tiny Castle Çınar BİBER
In a cozy corner of a sunny garden, under a big oak tree, lived a little mouse named Pip. Pip had soft grey fur, a cream belly, and big round brown eyes. He wore a red polka-dot neckerchief and a little blue tool apron. Every day, Pip loved to build with his wooden blocks. The blocks were smooth and colorful, and they made Pip smile. 1
Pip's favorite thing to build was a castle. He stacked the blocks one by one, making towers that reached high. The castle had a big gate and a pointy roof. Pip dreamed of knights and kings living inside. He placed a tiny flag on top and cheered, 'My castle is the best!' But the towers wobbled just a little. 2
One day, Pip invited his friend Beetle to see his castle. Beetle was small and shiny blue, with a yellow scarf and a brown satchel for pebbles. Beetle loved pebbles and always carried a few. 'Wow, Pip!' said Beetle. 'Your castle is so tall!' Pip puffed out his chest. 'I built it all by myself,' he said proudly. 'It's my tiny castle.' 3
Pip wanted to make the castle even taller. He climbed up and placed a block on the very top. But the tower wobbled! Pip reached for another block, but his paw slipped. Crash! The tall towers fell down with a loud clatter. Blocks tumbled everywhere. Pip's castle was ruined. He sat down and sighed. 'Oh no,' he whispered. 'All my work is gone.' 4
Beetle hurried over. 'Don't be sad, Pip,' he said kindly. 'Maybe I can help. I saw what happened. The bottom blocks weren't steady. Why not try making stronger foundations first?' Pip looked at the mess. He felt discouraged. 'But it took so long,' he said. Beetle smiled. 'Strong foundations will hold better,' he said. 'Let's try together.' 5
Pip took a deep breath. He picked up the blocks and started again. This time, he placed the bottom blocks very carefully. He made sure each one was flat and snug. Beetle watched and nodded. 'Good job, Pip!' he cheered. 'That's the way!' Pip kept working, one block at a time. The foundation grew wide and strong. 'This feels better,' Pip said. 6
Pip built the walls next. He stacked the blocks slowly, making sure each was straight. His blue tool apron pocket held his little hammer, but he didn't need it. His paws were gentle and sure. Beetle helped by finding blocks that were the same size. 'Here's a good one,' Beetle said, rolling a block over. Pip smiled. 'Thanks, Beetle!' 7
The castle grew taller. Pip added a big gate with a rounded top. He made windows with small square blocks. He even added a tower on each side. 'Look, Beetle!' Pip said. 'The walls are strong now.' Beetle clapped his six little legs. 'You're doing great, Pip!' he said. 'Your castle is looking wonderful.' Pip felt proud of his careful work. 8
But then, as Pip placed a block on the highest tower, the tower wobbled again. Pip froze. 'Oh no, not again!' he cried. Beetle said, 'Wait, Pip. Check the foundation. Maybe the bottom block is a bit loose.' Pip looked down. One bottom block was sticking out. 'You're right,' Pip said. 'I need to fix it.' 9
Pip carefully removed the top blocks. He pushed the loose block back into place. Then he rebuilt the tower, making sure every block was snug. This time, the tower stood firm. 'It's steady!' Pip cheered. Beetle smiled. 'You did it, Pip! You fixed the foundation.' Pip felt a warm glow. He had tried again and made it better. 10
Pip kept building. He added more towers and a high wall around the castle. He placed a tiny flag on the tallest tower. The castle was now taller than before. 'It's beautiful!' said Beetle. 'And you built it with your own paws.' Pip looked at his castle. 'I couldn't have done it without your help, Beetle,' he said. 11
Beetle shook his head. 'You did the hard part, Pip. You kept trying. That's what matters. You learned to place blocks carefully and make strong foundations.' Pip nodded. 'I guess I did. It was hard, but I didn't give up.' Beetle gave Pip a tiny high-five with one of his legs. 'That's the spirit!' he said. 12
Pip and Beetle sat back and admired the castle. The sun was setting, and the castle glowed in the warm light. 'From now on, I'll always check my foundations first,' Pip said. 'And I'll keep practicing.' Beetle nodded. 'Practice makes perfect, Pip. And you're getting better and better.' Pip felt happy and proud. 13
Just then, a little breeze blew. The flag on top of the castle waved. Pip held his breath. But the castle stood strong. 'It's not falling!' Pip cheered. 'My castle is strong!' Beetle laughed. 'You built it well, Pip.' Pip hugged Beetle. 'Thank you for helping me,' he said. 'You're a great friend.' 14
Pip learned that day that trying again and again helps build new skills. He learned that strong foundations make things last. He learned that friends can help when things get tough. 'I'll never give up,' Pip said. 'Because every try makes me better.' Beetle smiled. 'That's right, Pip. And your castle is proof.' 15
And so, Pip the mouse and Beetle the beetle sat together, watching the tiny castle stand tall. Pip knew that with patience and practice, he could build anything. And he couldn't wait to build again tomorrow. The end.
