A Passage from the Tale

The Rabbit's Rain Boots Çınar BİBER

Rosie the rabbit lived in a cozy burrow under a big oak tree. She loved to hop and skip, especially on rainy days. Her red raincoat with yellow buttons kept her dry, and her yellow scarf kept her warm. But her feet were always wet because she had no rain boots. One day, a special package arrived at her door. 1

The package was wrapped in shiny paper and tied with a bow. Rosie opened it quickly and found a pair of bright yellow rain boots inside. They were enormous! Each boot was as big as a bucket. Rosie's eyes grew wide with wonder, but also with worry. Would these giant boots ever fit her small feet? 2

Rosie's best friend, Benny the bear, came over to see. He wore his blue overalls and a little green leaf behind one ear. "Wow, those are some big boots!" he said with a friendly smile. Rosie tried to put them on. She slipped and wobbled with every step. "They're too big," she sighed sadly. "I can't wear them at all." 3

Benny helped Rosie up and gave her a gentle pat. "Don't be sad," he said. "Maybe we can think of something else." They went outside to play, but Rosie's boots kept slipping off her feet. She tripped over a planter and nearly fell into a bush. Her ears drooped, and she felt like crying. The boots were a big mistake. 4

Just then, Grandma Fern came by with her wooden walking stick. She wore her lavender shawl and half-moon spectacles. She saw Rosie's sad face and asked, "What's wrong, my dear?" Rosie showed her the giant boots. "They're too big to wear," she said. Grandma Fern smiled kindly. "Sometimes, big things have big surprises," she said. 5

Rosie and Benny sat on a log and looked at the boots. Benny said, "They look like two little buckets." Rosie's ears perked up. "Buckets!" she cried. "We can fill them with soil and plant flowers!" Benny clapped his paws. "What a clever idea!" he said. So they ran to get some soil and seeds. 6

They filled each boot with rich, brown soil. Rosie planted pretty yellow flowers in one boot and pink flowers in the other. Benny added some green leaves around the edges. The boots looked funny and lovely at the same time. "Now they're not just boots," Rosie said. "They're boot planters!" Benny laughed. "The best planters ever!" 7

Next, they decided to give the boot planters to their friends. First, they visited Lily the hedgehog. Lily was tiny, with soft brown spines and a purple knitted vest. She wore small round glasses and a red bow on her head. When she saw the boot planters, her black bead eyes sparkled. "For me?" she whispered shyly. 8

Lily sniffed the flowers happily. "They smell like sunshine," she said. "Thank you, Rosie!" Rosie felt warm inside. They took the other boot planter to Benny's house. Benny proudly put it on his porch and smiled his big friendly smile. "Now everyone can enjoy the flowers," he said. Rosie's heart felt light and happy. 9

Word spread about Rosie's boot planters. Friends came from all around to see them. Some said, "What a funny garden!" Others said, "How clever!" Rosie beamed with pride. She had turned a mistake into something wonderful. Even the rain couldn't spoil their fun. The boot gardens brightened up the whole neighborhood. 10

Grandma Fern came to see the boot planters too. She looked at them over her spectacles and smiled. "You see, my dear," she said, "a mistake can lead to a wonderful, creative solution." Rosie nodded. She understood now. The boots were too big to wear, but they were just right for planting flowers and making friends happy. 11

Rosie felt proud of her idea. She had been sad when the boots didn't fit, but now she knew that mistakes could be fixed with a little imagination. Benny gave her a high-five. "You're the best boot gardener I know!" he said. Rosie giggled. She couldn't wait to plant more flowers in other fun containers. 12

That evening, Rosie sat by the window and looked at the rain. She thought about her friends and their boot gardens. She felt warm and happy inside. The rain tapped softly on the roof, and Rosie smiled. She knew that even rainy days could be full of surprises. And she had a new idea for more planters. 13

The next morning, Rosie put on her red raincoat and yellow scarf. She didn't need rain boots anymore. She had her friends and her creativity to keep her happy. She hopped outside to visit Benny and Lily. They were already admiring their boot gardens. "Let's plant more flowers!" Rosie said. Everyone agreed. 14

So they spent the day planting seeds in old cups and pots. They laughed and played in the rain. Rosie realized that the best things in life come from friendship and imagination. The giant rain boots had taught her a valuable lesson. She would never forget it. And she would always remember to look on the bright side. 15

From that day on, Rosie was known as the rabbit with the boot planters. Her friends loved her creative spirit. Grandma Fern was proud of her clever granddaughter. And whenever it rained, Rosie would smile and think of the boots that were too big. She had turned a mistake into something beautiful, and that made her heart sing.
