In the heart of the Great Green Forest, a small squirrel named Hazel has a wonderful idea: a moonlight party for all her friends. With her sky-blue apron and a red ribbon bow behind one ear, she delivers invitations made of leaves to both nighttime animals like owls, bats, and fireflies, and daytime animals like rabbits, birds, and chipmunks. But when her friend Pip the rabbit worries that he will be asleep during the party, Hazel realizes she must plan carefully so everyone can join the fun.
With help from Oliver the wise owl and Luna the firefly, Hazel creates a party that accommodates all her guests. She plans moonlit tag and star-gazing for the night animals, and gentle games like leaf-pile jumping and a quiet corner with soft moss for the day animals. She gathers acorns, berries, and carrots, and makes sure there are treats for everyone. On the night of the party, all the animals arrive, and everyone finds something to enjoy.

A Passage from the Tale
The Squirrel's Moonlight Party Çınar BİBER
In the heart of the Great Green Forest, where tall trees touched the sky, lived a small squirrel named Hazel. She had russet-orange fur, a cream belly, and a bushy tail with a fluffy curl. Perched on a branch, she watched the moon rise and had a wonderful idea: a moonlight party for all her friends! She wore her sky-blue apron and a red ribbon bow behind one ear. "I'll invite everyone," she chirped. 1
Hazel scurried from tree to tree, delivering invitations made of leaves. She invited the nighttime animals—owls, bats, and fireflies—and the daytime animals—rabbits, birds, and chipmunks. But when she told her friend Pip the rabbit about the party, he looked worried. "A party at night?" he said, twitching his pink nose. "I'm asleep then!" Hazel realized she needed to plan carefully so all her friends could enjoy the fun. 2
That evening, Hazel visited Oliver the owl, who wore round glasses and a dark green scarf. Oliver was wise and gentle. "A moonlight party sounds lovely," he hooted, his golden eyes glowing. "But remember, daytime animals need special things to join the fun." Hazel nodded, her amber eyes sparkling. "I'll make games and treats for everyone!" she declared. Oliver smiled. "I'll help you plan." 3
Hazel and Oliver sat under the moon, making a list. For nighttime animals, they planned moonlit tag and star-gazing. For daytime animals, they planned gentle games like leaf-pile jumping and a quiet corner with soft moss for resting. "We'll need snacks for all," Hazel said, patting her apron pocket full of acorns. "Nuts for squirrels, carrots for rabbits, and seeds for birds." Oliver nodded. "And Luna the firefly can light the way." 4
The next day, Hazel gathered acorns, berries, and carrots. She filled her apron pocket until it bulged. Pip the rabbit hopped over, curious. "What are you doing?" he asked, his long ears standing tall. "Preparing for the party," Hazel said. "There will be games for you, too, Pip!" Pip's blue eyes widened. "Really?" He bounced with excitement. "I'll bring my satchel for snacks!" 5
That night, Luna the firefly zipped through the trees, her golden body glowing. She wore a tiny silver bell that jingled softly. "I'll light the party path and decorations," she twinkled. Hazel smiled. "Thank you, Luna! Your sparkle will make everything magical." Luna danced in the air, leaving a shimmering trail. "I'll also help with the games," she said. "I can be the star in hide-and-seek!" 6
Finally, the night of the party arrived. The moon was round and bright. Oliver hung his lantern on a branch, and Luna lit the path with her glow. Hazel had set up game stations: a moonlit tag area, a leaf-pile jumping spot, and a quiet corner with soft moss. She had also placed bowls of treats—acorns, berries, carrots, and seeds—so everyone could share. 7
Pip the rabbit arrived first, wearing his yellow vest with the carrot-shaped button. He carried his tiny satchel full of snacks. "Wow!" he gasped, looking at the decorations. "This is amazing!" But then he frowned. "Is it only for night animals?" Hazel shook her head. "No, Pip! There are games for you, too. See the leaf pile? And the quiet corner if you get sleepy." Pip smiled, relieved. 8
Soon, all the animals arrived. The owls hooted, the bats fluttered, and the fireflies twinkled. The rabbits hopped, the birds chirped, and the chipmunks chattered. Everyone gathered around Hazel. "Welcome to the moonlight party!" she announced. "We have games and treats for everyone—night and day!" The animals cheered. Oliver kept watch, guiding guests along the dark path with his lantern. 9
The party began with moonlit tag. The nighttime animals raced and leaped, while the daytime animals played a gentler version with soft moss balls. Luna zipped around, leaving a sparkle trail that made everyone laugh. Pip bounced happily, his long ears flopping. "This is so fun!" he shouted. Hazel watched with joy, her bushy tail curling with delight. 10
Then it was time for treats. Hazel passed around bowls of acorns, berries, carrots, and seeds. "Share with a friend!" she said. The animals happily traded snacks. Pip gave a carrot to a little bat, who gave him a berry in return. "Thank you!" Pip said, his nose twitching. "I didn't know night animals could be so nice." The bat smiled. "And you're fun, too!" 11
After snacks, Luna led the dancing. She twirled in the air, her silver bell jingling, and the animals swayed and spun. The owls flapped their wings, the rabbits hopped, and the squirrels twirled their tails. Even Oliver did a little shuffle, his glasses slipping down his beak. Everyone laughed and danced under the bright moon, sharing the joy of the night. 12
As the night grew late, some daytime animals began to yawn. Hazel noticed and smiled. "The quiet corner is ready for anyone who needs rest," she said. Pip felt sleepy, so he curled up on the soft moss. Hazel covered him with a leaf blanket. "Thank you for thinking of us," Pip murmured, his eyes closing. "You're welcome," Hazel whispered. "Everyone should be comfortable." 13
When the moon began to set, the animals gathered for one last game—a gentle game of star-gazing. They lay on their backs and looked up at the sky. "I see a star shaped like an acorn!" Hazel said. "I see one like a carrot!" Pip giggled. Oliver pointed with his wing. "And one like a lantern." Luna twinkled above them, her bell jingling softly. It was a perfect moment.
