On a wide, golden savanna where acacia trees spread like umbrellas, a gentle elephant named Eldra sets up a story tent so that the animals around her can come together and share their tales. With her strong trunk she stretches a cloth over poles, adds soft cushions and a little lantern, hangs a brass bell and ties her mustard yellow scarf around her neck. A sign outside reads 'Stories Welcome Inside,' and Eldra sits by the opening, ready to welcome everyone who arrives.
The first visitors bring very different lives with them. Zebra tells of racing the wind across the open plains, Giraffe speaks of seeing the savanna from high above and wonders how small creatures view the world, and Meerkat describes digging burrows, whistling warnings and writing down everything she notices. More animals follow, each with a story shaped by its own way of living, and Eldra listens carefully to every one of them. Through these exchanges the animals begin to understand how differently the same grassland can be experienced.
As the sun sets, the group decides to gather the tales into a community book, binding leaves with a vine and writing the stories down. The book is written for young readers and for anyone who reads aloud to children. It shows how listening to others can turn difference into curiosity and friendship, and how shared stories can build a sense of community.

A Passage from the Tale
The Elephant's Story Tent Çınar BİBER
On the wide, golden savanna, where acacia trees spread like umbrellas, a gentle elephant named Eldra had a wonderful idea. She decided to set up a story tent where all the animals could come and share their tales. With her strong trunk, she stretched a big cloth over some poles and tied it down. She added soft cushions and a little lantern. Then she hung a small brass bell on a cord and tied her mustard yellow scarf loosely around her neck. 1
Eldra's wide floppy ears flapped happily as she worked. The pink inside of her ears glowed in the warm sun. She placed a sign outside that read, 'Stories Welcome Inside.' Her small, kind dark brown eyes sparkled with excitement. She couldn't wait to hear what stories the animals would bring. She sat by the tent opening, ready to welcome everyone. 2
The first to arrive was Zebra, trotting up with a bright red beaded necklace bouncing on her chest. A small woven satchel hung across her shoulder. 'Hello, Eldra!' she neighed. 'I have a story about racing across the grassland. It's full of twists and turns!' Eldra smiled and waved her in with her curling trunk. 'Come in, come in,' she said softly. 'I would love to hear it.' 3
Zebra settled onto a cushion and began her tale. 'One morning, I raced the wind across the open plains. My striped legs were a blur, and my mane stood tall. I leaped over rocks and dodged a startled bird. I laughed the whole way!' She giggled, and her dark eyes with long lashes twinkled. Eldra listened carefully, her big ears turned toward every word. She laughed too, and the tent felt warm and happy. 4
Next came Giraffe, ducking her long neck to enter the tent. Her sky blue neckerchief was tied near the top of her neck, and her thin round glasses sat on her nose. 'Hello, friends,' she said gently. 'I have a story about seeing far across the savanna from high above.' Eldra nodded and made room. 'Please, tell us,' she said. Giraffe settled her long legs and began. 5
'From my height, I can see the river winding like a silver ribbon,' Giraffe said. 'I watch the clouds race and the sun set fire to the sky. I see families of animals moving together, and I wonder about their lives.' Her amber eyes were soft and thoughtful. Eldra asked, 'What do you wonder about?' Giraffe replied, 'I wonder how small creatures see the world from down low.' The question hung in the air, making everyone think. 6
Just then, Meerkat popped in, wearing a tiny green vest with wooden buttons. From its pocket, a little canvas notebook peeked out. 'Did someone say small creatures?' she chirped. 'I have a busy tale about digging burrows and watching for danger!' Her dark eye patches made her look serious, but her bright brown eyes danced. Eldra welcomed her with a warm smile. 'Come share your story,' she said. 7
Meerkat stood tall and began. 'My days are full of digging and watching. I pop up from my burrow to check the sky and the grass. When I see a shadow, I whistle a warning! Then we all scurry to safety.' She scribbled a note in her notebook. 'And I write down everything I see,' she added. 'Every day is a new adventure.' The other animals listened with wide eyes. They had never thought about life from a meerkat's point of view. 8
Zebra laughed. 'I never knew a small creature could be so brave!' Meerkat grinned. 'And I never knew a zebra could run so fast!' she replied. Giraffe adjusted her glasses. 'It's wonderful how different our lives are,' she said. Eldra's trunk curled in a happy smile. 'That's exactly why we share stories,' she said. 'We learn about each other's worlds.' The animals nodded, feeling closer already. 9
More animals arrived, drawn by the cozy tent and the sound of laughter. A warthog told a muddy tale, and a guinea fowl shared a story about loud calls. Each animal had a different life, but they all had something to share. Eldra listened to every single one, her kind eyes never leaving the storyteller. The tent became a treasure box of tales, each one special and new. 10
As the sun began to set, painting the sky orange and pink, the animals realized they had collected so many stories. 'We should keep them,' said Meerkat, flipping through her notebook. 'We could make a community book!' Everyone agreed. Zebra brought smooth leaves, Giraffe found a long vine to bind them, and Meerkat wrote the stories down with a tiny charcoal stick. Eldra helped tie it all together with her trunk. The book was thick with tales. 11
When the book was finished, the animals gathered around Eldra. 'Thank you for listening to us,' said Zebra. 'You made us feel important.' Giraffe nodded. 'And we learned so much about each other.' Meerkat hugged her notebook. 'I will keep writing,' she said. Eldra's eyes glistened. 'Listening is a gift,' she said. 'And sharing makes us friends.' They all sat together, feeling warm and happy. 12
From that day on, the story tent became a favorite place. Animals came from all over the savanna to share their tales and listen to others. Eldra always wore her mustard scarf and rang the little bell to welcome everyone. The community book grew thicker with each passing week. And every animal learned that no matter how different their lives were, they all had stories worth hearing.
