Rosie the rabbit lives in a cozy burrow under a big oak tree in the woodland, and she wears a sky-blue apron with a front pocket and a tiny red ribbon tied at one ear. One sunny morning she finds her grandmother's dusty old recipe book on her shelf, full of wonderful recipes such as carrot cake and berry pie. But every page has one ingredient missing, and where it should be the word 'secret' is written. Rosie's ear with the bent tip twitches with wonder, and she decides to find out what the secret ingredient could be.

Pip the squirrel, small and quick with a bushy striped tail and a green neckerchief, knocks on her door and joins the search. Together they hunt the woodland for unusual spices, gather berries, climb trees, and ask the fawn, the hedgehog, and the bluebird for help, but none of them knows the answer. Feeling a little discouraged, they set off to visit Grandma Willow, who lives in a cozy warren at the edge of the woodland, helping a little hedgehog carry acorns and sharing their berries with a hungry bluebird along the way.

Grandma Willow explains that the secret ingredient is not something you can buy or find in the forest; it is something you do. Before every meal, share a kind act, and it makes the food taste better and the heart feel fuller. Excited to try it, Rosie and Pip plan a surprise feast for their friends, and everyone works together chopping, stirring, and baking under the oak tree. The story shows young readers how kindness and cooperation can be shared, and it is suited to children who enjoy gentle woodland tales about friendship and generosity.

A Passage from the Tale

The Rabbit's Secret Recipe Çınar BİBER

Rosie the rabbit lived in a cozy burrow under a big oak tree in the woodland. She wore a sky-blue apron with a front pocket and a tiny red ribbon tied at one ear. One sunny morning, she found a dusty old recipe book on her shelf. It was her grandmother's book, full of wonderful recipes! Rosie's big brown eyes sparkled with curiosity. She couldn't wait to try one. 1

Rosie opened the book and turned the pages carefully. Each page had a list of ingredients for yummy dishes like carrot cake and berry pie. But every page had one ingredient missing! The word 'secret' was written where the missing ingredient should be. Rosie's ear, the one with the bent tip, twitched with wonder. 'What could the secret ingredient be?' she asked herself. She decided to find out. 2

Just then, Pip the squirrel knocked on her door. He was small and quick, with a bushy striped tail and a green neckerchief. 'Hello, Rosie!' he chirped. 'What are you up to?' Rosie showed him the recipe book and explained the mystery. Pip's hazel eyes grew wide. 'A secret ingredient? How exciting! Let's solve it together!' He swung his brown satchel and grinned. 3

Rosie and Pip looked at the first recipe: Grandma Willow's Carrot Cake. The missing ingredient was 'secret'. 'Maybe it's a special spice?' said Pip. They searched the woodland for unusual spices. They found mint leaves, wild thyme, and sweet honey, but none seemed right. Rosie sighed. 'Maybe the secret isn't something we can find in the forest.' Pip nodded, thinking hard. 4

Next, they tried the Berry Pie recipe. The missing ingredient was still 'secret'. They gathered juicy berries and looked for something else. Pip climbed a tall tree to get the best berries. Rosie picked flowers nearby. They asked the woodland friends if they knew the secret ingredient. The fawn, the hedgehog, and the bluebird all shook their heads. 'We don't know,' they said, 'but we'd love to help!' 5

Rosie felt a little discouraged. 'How will we ever find the secret ingredient?' she wondered. Pip put a paw on her shoulder. 'Don't worry, Rosie. We'll figure it out. Maybe we should ask Grandma Willow.' So they set off to visit Grandma Willow, who lived in a cozy warren at the edge of the woodland. Along the way, they helped a little hedgehog carry acorns and shared their berries with a hungry bluebird. 6

Grandma Willow was sitting outside her warren, wearing her lavender shawl and round spectacles. She smiled when she saw Rosie and Pip. 'Hello, my dears,' she said. 'What brings you here?' Rosie showed her the recipe book. 'Grandma, every page is missing an ingredient, and it says 'secret'. What is it?' Grandma Willow's green eyes twinkled. 'Ah, that is the most important ingredient of all,' she said mysteriously. 7

Grandma Willow invited them inside for tea. She told them about the secret ingredient. 'It's not something you can buy or find in the forest,' she said. 'It's something you do. Before every meal, share a kind act. It makes the food taste better and the heart feel fuller.' Rosie and Pip looked at each other. 'A kind act?' they said together. Grandma Willow nodded. 'Try it and see.' 8

Rosie and Pip hurried back to Rosie's burrow, excited to try the secret ingredient. They decided to cook a surprise feast for their woodland friends. They planned a menu of carrot soup, berry pie, and honey cakes. But there was so much to do! Pip said, 'I'll gather the ingredients if you start cooking.' So Pip dashed off with his satchel, and Rosie tied on her apron. 9

Pip returned with baskets full of carrots, berries, and honey. He had also invited the woodland friends to help. The fawn brought fresh greens, the hedgehog carried nuts, and the bluebird sang a happy tune. Everyone wanted to contribute. Rosie set up a big table under the oak tree. They all worked together, chopping, stirring, and baking. The woodland was filled with laughter and delicious smells. 10

As they cooked, Rosie remembered Grandma's words about a kind act before the meal. She said to Pip, 'Let's each do something kind for someone else before we eat.' Pip thought that was a wonderful idea. He helped the hedgehog reach a high shelf. Rosie gave the fawn a flower crown. The bluebird sang a special song for everyone. Kindness was in the air. 11

Finally, the feast was ready. They all sat around the table, and Rosie said, 'Before we eat, let's share a kind act.' Each friend did something kind: the fawn shared a blanket, the hedgehog gave a warm smile, the bluebird sang a thank-you song, and Pip gave Rosie a little acorn charm. Rosie felt her heart glow. Then they all dug into the delicious food. 12

The food tasted extra special! The carrot soup was warm and sweet, the berry pie was juicy, and the honey cakes melted in their mouths. Everyone agreed it was the best meal ever. 'The secret ingredient really works!' said Pip with a grin. Rosie nodded. 'It's not food at all. It's kindness and cooperation.' They all cheered and asked for second helpings. 13

After the meal, Grandma Willow arrived, leaning on her wooden spoon. She smiled at the happy group. 'You see?' she said. 'The secret ingredient is love and kindness, shared with friends.' Rosie hugged her grandmother. 'Thank you for leaving the book for me.' Grandma Willow winked. 'I knew you would discover the secret.
