Lumi is a young seal pup who lives beneath a bright, crackly ceiling of ice and a soft, salty sea. Her days are spent chasing silver fish and blowing wobbling bubbles, until one morning a low, sweet melody drifts down through the water and tickles her whiskers. Curious about where such a song could come from, she sets out to find the singer, even though her mother has warned her about swimming too far alone.
Lumi turns to her friend Nix, a narwhal with a long spiral tusk who knows the deep water well, and the two swim side by side following the elusive melody. The song comes and goes like a whisper in the waves, leading them past towers of ice and into darker, colder channels. As the water deepens and the light fades, Lumi must balance her excitement with the caution her mother taught her, staying close to Nix and thinking carefully about each step.
This gentle tale follows the two friends as they track the secret song to a glowing ice cave and discover what patience, trust and careful curiosity can reveal. Young readers who enjoy animal adventures and quiet, atmospheric stories will find here a warm lesson about listening, staying safe and sharing a discovery with a friend.

A Passage from the Tale
The Seal's Secret Song Çınar BİBER
Lumi the seal pup lived in a world of white and blue. The ice above her was a bright, crackly roof, and the sea below was her soft, salty playground. She loved to chase silver fish and blow bubbles that wobbled up like tiny balloons. Her silvery grey fur was speckled with white, and her big brown eyes missed nothing. Every day was a new adventure under the sun-sparkled ice. 1
One morning, as Lumi floated near the ice edge, a sound drifted down. It was a song, low and sweet, like a whale's hum mixed with wind chimes. The melody curled through the water and tickled her whiskers. Lumi tilted her small, round head and listened hard. Where was that beautiful song coming from? She had never heard anything like it before. 2
Lumi's heart went thump-thump with curiosity. She wanted to find the singer, but the song seemed to come from deep, dark places under the ice. Her mother had warned her about swimming too far alone. Lumi hesitated, her glossy flippers fluttering. Then she thought of her friend Nix, the narwhal, who knew the deep water well. Maybe he would come along. 3
Lumi zipped through the water to find Nix. He was gliding near a forest of kelp, his mottled blue-grey skin dotted with pale spots. His long, spiral tusk shone like a twisted icicle. "Nix!" she called. "I hear a secret song under the ice. Will you help me find it?" Nix's bright blue eyes twinkled. "Of course, Lumi. Let's follow it together." 4
The two friends swam side by side, listening for the melody. It came and went, like a whisper in the waves. Nix's strong fluked tail pushed them through the cold water. Lumi kept her ears open and her eyes wide. The song grew a little louder, then faded, then grew again. "It's like a game of hide-andseek," Lumi giggled. Nix smiled and said, "We'll find it. Just stay close." 5
They swam past towers of ice that sparkled like crystal castles. The song led them deeper, where the water turned a darker blue. Lumi felt a tiny flutter of worry in her tummy. She stayed near Nix's sturdy side. "Do you hear it?" she whispered. Nix nodded. "It's ahead, I think. But we must be careful. The deep water can be tricky." Lumi nodded and flicked her tail bravely. 6
Suddenly, the melody seemed to come from everywhere at once. It echoed off the ice above and the rocks below. Lumi spun in a circle, confused. "Which way?" she asked. Nix closed his eyes and listened. "This way," he said, pointing with his tusk toward a shadowy gap between two ice cliffs. "The song is bouncing, but I think it's coming from that opening." Lumi gulped, but she trusted her friend. 7
They swam through the gap into a narrow channel. The water was colder here, and the light was dim. Lumi's whiskers twitched. She could still hear the song, a thread of sound pulling them forward. "It's so pretty," she said softly. "But it's getting dark." Nix's spots glowed faintly in the gloom. "Stay close to me," he said. "We'll go slowly and listen carefully." 8
The channel opened into a wide, quiet space. Lumi saw a faint glow ahead, like moonlight under the sea. The song was clearer now, a gentle hum that made her heart feel warm. "Look!" she whispered. A cave entrance loomed before them, framed by ancient ice. The melody drifted out, soft and inviting. "That must be where the song lives," said Nix. "But caves can be dark and confusing." 9
Lumi felt a tug of excitement and a tug of fear at the same time. She wanted to rush in, but she remembered her mother's words: be curious, but be careful. "Let's go in together," she said. "We'll hold flippers and stay close." Nix nodded. "Good plan. We'll listen for the song and watch for danger." They linked flippers and swam into the glowing cave. 10
Inside, the cavern was huge and round, with walls of shimmering ice. The song echoed all around, beautiful and strange. Lumi saw shapes in the ice that looked like ancient waves. It was amazing, but the shadows were deep. "It's so dark," she whispered. Nix squeezed her flipper. "I'm here. Let's stay near the entrance and listen. We don't need to go deeper." Lumi nodded, feeling safe. 11
They floated together, listening to the secret song. It seemed to tell a story of long ago, of ice and stars and deep blue water. Lumi hummed along, her whiskers twitching happily. "We found it," she said. "And we were careful." Nix smiled. "Curiosity and caution make a good team," he said. "You were brave to follow the song, and smart to stay safe." Lumi felt proud and warm inside. 12
After a while, the song grew softer, as if it was saying goodbye. Lumi knew it was time to go home. "Thank you for coming with me," she said to Nix. "I couldn't have done it without you." Nix flicked his tail. "And I couldn't have found the song without you. That's what friends are for." They turned and swam out of the cave, leaving the secret melody behind. 13
The swim home felt light and happy. Lumi's heart was full of the song. She hummed it softly as they glided through the water. Nix hummed too, his deep voice mixing with her little one. They passed the ice towers and the kelp forest, and everything looked brighter than before. "I'll remember this day forever," said Lumi. "Me too," said Nix.
